Gladie, an Empowered Lady on Motherhood and Being a Wife to Her Husband Lindsey

Gladie has been a pillar of strength for her household throughout the entirety of her 16-year marriage. While her husband Lindsey pursues his career as a pilot, Gladie has taken charge of managing the household. 

Gladie had originally planned to pursue her own career, so delving deep into motherhood was not part of her original plan. "I'm not working from the beginning of our marriage; he really asked me to not get job. and focus on our children, because he knew that his job would take so much of his time", Gladie said. 

It soon became apparent to Gladie, however, that her sacrifice would bear fruit. She was able to focus on raising their children while Lindsey worked on several commuting contracts as a pilot, often traveling to faraway places.

Embracing Motherhood

The eldest daughter, Glasey, was born two years after their church wedding, and she was soon followed by Sofiel a few years later. With her two daughters by her side, Gladie recognizes the significance of being actively involved in their daily lives. "Raising kids nowadays will require a 100% from you. They will need more time and attention," she says.

According to Gladie, raising children in this generation has become a unique challenge due to the significant impact of technology, which has permeated every aspect of our lives. Parenting has always been a demanding job, one that does not come with any formal training. Gladie believes that acceptance and commitment play a crucial role in being a parent and effectively handling the challenges that come with raising children. Embracing motherhood entails wholeheartedly accepting the responsibilities and challenges that come with being a mother.

“Embracing motherhood simply means accepting all the responsibility and challenges as a mother,” Gladie said.

Being a mother is already a challenging task, but when you also take on the role of a wife, life becomes even more demanding. This is particularly true in today's world, where the empowerment of women is strongly encouraged. Gladie does not feel pressured to achieve success on her own or climb the corporate ladder independently. To become the foundation that holds her family is more than enough to empower her as a mother and wife. 

Gladie’s role as the perfect mother to her beautiful daughters doesn’t take anything from being a wife to Lindsey. In fact, Gladie considers herself as her husband’s biggest cheerleader and to which husband Lindsey appreciates the most. 

A good wife brings positive changes in a man. “Me as a partner guides him to the right path and stands by him through thick and thin,” Gladie shares. For her, being a supportive wife is her main role in helping him push his limits and achieve his dreams and be successful in life. “I put so much trust on him. We work as a team not just as partners, that's our couple goals,” Gladie adds. 

Flying High After All These Years

Flying has been a literal part of the Gladie and Lindsey’s life as a couple. Being a pilot and away for a long period of time, Lindsey has had to dispel common misconceptions about pilots on top of becoming a great provider to his family. 

“As a pilot, there’s this stereotyping of pilots as being ‘chick boys”, Lindsey tells Real Bride PH. “But I never fail to remind my wife that she’s my everything and that I love her imperfections. She’s the only one who I want to spend my life with. A person's beauty may fade, and material things can go out-of-date. But my affection, devotedness, and fondness for her will remain forever,” Lindsey adds. 

For Gladie, even when distance plays a factor in certain times during their marriage, she firmly believes in the importance of trust, putting in maximum effort, practicing patience, and maintaining open communication.

“Starting the day conversing and before going to bed is a must,” Gladie advises. “That way you feel like you've connected at the beginning and end of the day. Keeping in touch and involved with each other in your daily routines is powerful in order to show the strength of the relationship,” she adds. 

Gladie and Lindsey's sense of adventure and spontaneity remains undiminished despite being married for a long time. Even after 16 years of marriage, this couple has successfully preserved a sense of excitement and looseness in their relationship. They consistently embark on hastily planned trips, delight in impromptu date nights, and frequently go on joy rides out of town. The couple has actively made an effort to maintain the activities that initially brought them together and ignited their love for each other.

Gladie is an empowered woman who takes pride in fulfilling her role as a strong pillar in her family's foundation. By embracing the roles of motherhood and wifehood to a hardworking husband, Gladie truly embodies the qualities of a 21st century woman.
