Jelyn and Marine on What is Life After Marriage
We caught up with Jelyn and Marine after they tied the knot. Embarking on a delightful journey of love and togetherness, their days now are filled with laughter, shared dreams, and cherished moments. While navigating through life's joys and challenges possesses obstacles, they do so hand in hand, growing stronger as a couple with each passing day. In this beautiful union, they found comfort, understanding, and a love that blossomed like a sweet, everlasting melody. Together, they created a life that was woven with love, kindness, and a promise to cherish one another forever. We ask them what life is today after marriage and what the immediate future appears to be.
Taking care of their daughter
A year after exchanging "I do's", Jelyn and Marine welcomed a daughter who is now 3 years old. "My husband and I are working from home, so we have the opportunity to take care of our child. It’s difficult to balance work, childcare, household chores", Jelyn said. Yet, the couple proudly shares that they have gone through raising a child really well despite having no help from a nanny. "We already survived 3 years with only me and my husband taking care of our child."
When quizzed on who is stricter at home, Jelyn points to herself as the master sergeant of the household. “My husband is hands-on when it comes to childcare. He is patience and kind, while I’m the one implementing the rules and discipline to our child. We both love our daughter and having 2 different approaches balance the child caring. We always reminded each other if we were getting too strict or too lenient.”
As the couple discover more of each other living under one roof, it comes to expect that they will notice changes occurring in each of them. For Marine, it all boils down to embracing every hint of change by looking at it as a way of expanding one’s outlook in life.
People change, even me. You cannot ask your spouse to be a person like when you were dating, it won’t happen.”, Marine says. “Instead, embrace the change, adjust if necessary and forget the ego, learn and choose harmony.”
“Voice out your concern in a polite manner”, interjects Jelyn. “Remember how your spouse approaches you is the reflection of how you treat her/him. So, when you sense something is wrong, talk to each other and try to fix it on both sides. Faults are not one sided it always been two of you.”
Priorities and Future Plans
While raising their daughter and establishing a stable family life is the couple's top goal, they are also planning forward with an eye toward the future. “We'd love to open a shop, whether it's a bakery or a nursery. Aglaonema, caladiums, and roses are just few of the plants I've begun to gather.” said Jelyn.
A business and as Marine noted, another child 2-3 years from now would form the immediate future of Jelyn and Marine’s family.
When the couple has spare time, they chose to spend it on vacations because they both believe that exposing their child to new cultures and countries at a young age will educate her to appreciate life more and to never take anything for granted.
Despite the fact that young children are prone to forgetting early travel memories, the experience will gradually harness the child's functioning skills, sensory stimulation, and active engagement. Important maturational cogs that will be advantageous in the long run.
Advice on how to Spice up Married Life
Every couple doesn’t have to go through the infamous 7-year itch if only they know of ways to spice things up in a married life that can become monotonous in any second.
The power of appreciating each other by expressing pleasant words melts down all boundaries and misunderstandings for Jelyn and Marine. A frequent vacation schedule to exotic and far-away places, on top of that, helps the pair inject enthusiasm into their life. "There's always that sense of contentment and peace when we're relaxing and watching the sunset with our child by our side," Marine explains.
When asked for advice for soon-to-be married couples, Jelyn and Marine share a question they were asked before they married. "What kind of family do you intend to create?" was the query.
Every day when they wake up, the pair answers that question by demonstrating how hard they would work to create the family they have always desired: one filled with love, understanding, empathy, and harmony.
