THE WHOLE STORY COUNTS

It was around the 4th wedding that year in 2017 that indie filmmaker-actor, HECTOR MACASO, together with one of his best friends, another Director, EJ SALCEDO, that they attended and noticed that the bride and grooms’ videos were all so visually arresting yet lacked a bit in the storytelling department.

The aerial drone shots were awe-inspiring, the sudden look-aways by the bride from the camera were worthy of high fashion shoots, and the groom’s shots made him look like he owned high-tech companies worthy of silicon-valley fame.  Yet, for HECTOR, the cinematic wedding film missed something that seemed obvious, a lot of people were expecting---how did the bride and groom meet?  What was their love story? Why did their relationship grow?

That’s when he asked EJ, a what if? WHAT IF we were to bring back the good-old storytelling type videos and couple that with these 21st Century Wedding videography-style, complete with drones, steady-cams and multiple-cameramen.

Hector knew that in most weddings, there are more than a number of visitors who don’t really know the couple’s story.  And he thought, isn’t that what this celebration was truly about? The unity of two souls, being permanent in this one special occasion?  Other than the great food, and sometimes, the free booze, we all go to weddings to celebrate our families’, our friends’ story on how they met and now, the rest of their lives are intertwined.  So, the whole story must be the king of every wedding video.

By the end of the year, Hector started watching the top videographers of the land, researched the new camera angles, new equipment used and started crafting a filmmaking process where the couple’s story will still be the highlight of the video, yet be totally cinematic.  After training new cameramen, getting consultations from veterans and learning the difficulties of Wedding Video Filmmaking, Hector was confident enough to try his hand in this highly-competitive industry.  Thus, was born the Kamera at Kwento concept---KAMENTO.

While most younger videographers now veer-away from extra-day shoots for long interviews, KAMENTO welcomed them and put this extra-day interview as part of their wedding video package.  Hector thought, how can one create a truly meaningful video without knowing the true story?  Most videos nowadays simply use vows during the wedding to thread their same-day edit videos, KAMENTO Wedding Films goes the traditional, longer route and threads the video with the couples’ entire love story.

After more than 10 wedding films in just a few months since its opening, KAMENTO clients thank Direk Hector saying “Salamat direk, dami naming bisita na nalaman story namin, nakaka-inspire daw…”.

For HECTOR, the true fulfillment comes from making each celebration complete and sharing the couples’ inspirational story to as many people as possible.
