Carlo and Remy embodied the dream of countless romantics when they brewed an ideal love story in, where else, a café.

After Carlo began frequenting a particular coffee shop, he no longer viewed his morning coffee fix as an indulgence but rather as a necessity. As each sip from his cup fuels his body, his heart was also opening to the possibility of love.  The subject of his affection was none other than the owner of the café itself, the lady behind the counter who answers to the name of Remy.

Carlo's heart fluttered wildly to the appealing sight of Remy and her sweet way of talking all day long. From the moment the café opens in the morning until the cafe closes, Carlo would spend as much time in the café as he can. Before any of the patrons could confuse him for a member of the coffee shop’s staff, Carlo's mum stepped in and played matchmaker by introducing the two.

It was only a matter of time before Carlo and Remy got to know each other over cups of freshly brewed coffee and animated conversations about everything under the sun. As fate would seal it, their time mingling with each other paved the way for romance to brew.

Putting to Bed all Doubts

As far as Carlo is concerned, he already knew Remy was the one when he first saw her inside the café. In Remy’s case, the final validation of her love for Carlo happened when she saw Carlo lying on a hospital bed in Portland, Oregon after a health scare. " "I became nervous, and I realized I couldn't afford to lose him," Remy recounts.

A “Yes” that Came with New Year’s Eve Fireworks

With Carlo all back in the pink of health and their relationship as a couple has grown tremendously since their early cafe days, the two inches closely to taking the next step.

As the holiday season ends with only the New Year's Eve festivity left to be celebrated, Carlo joined Remy's family to celebrate media noche.

Tense and clumsy around the cake, Carlo tried to keep it all together just as the New Year's Eve fireworks lighting up the sky counted down to the arrival of the new year. Remy was admiring the magnificent streaks of light in the sky as the clock struck midnight when she observed Carlo going down on one knee.  "Please be my wife", said the future groom. It wasn't a question, rather a statement to which the soon-to-be bride happily followed up with a resounding "Yes".

Planning for the Big Day

Carlo and Remy, in planning for their dream wedding, began with the fundamentals: deciding on a date, setting a budget, appointing the wedding entourage, and hiring a wedding coordinator.

The couple decided on a preppy theme for their wedding, with old rose, bright pinks, creams, and greens as the primary colors. The wedding theme drew attention to bold patterns, tasteful bows, dainty fonts, and cheery flowers, all of which reflected the couple's standout personalities of elegance, formality, and ambition, as well as their fun, easygoing nature.

The wedding preparations went off with only little hiccups till the big day itself. Both Carlo and Remy's families were devout Roman Catholics, therefore their wedding ceremony was held in a church dedicated to the Immaculate Concepcion.

Due to the limited availability of event spaces in the midst of the pandemic, the couple hosted their wedding celebration in an intimate set-up at a cousin's family farm. This allowed them to avoid the burden of complying with the stringent regulations of hotels and other event venues during the pandemic.

Advice to Future Married Couples

When asked what they can advice to those planning to tying the knot soon, Carlo and Remy have this to say. “Just relax and enjoy the process of planning from day one until the day of the wedding itself”, Carlo said. “Always remember that when you love someone — when you really love someone, it's not a matter of convenience, it's not only something you feel when times are good, it’s your willingness to fix something you might feel is broken instead of just throwing it away”, Remy adds.
