INDSAE HANNAH CARPIO GARCIA

A DEBUTANTE’S DREAM

By: Mylene Campos

A debut (customarily thrown in a fashionably grand manner) represents a lady’s coming of age. It is her formal entry from adolescence to adulthood and an introduction to society as an adult. As a young woman turns 18, the age of maturity in the Philippines, she celebrates her special day with the people who matter most to her. And Indsae Hannah celebrated hers no differently from the others.

BEYOND EXPECTATIONS | Indsae Hannah’s debut was beyond her expectations. “I was hesitant to throw a party because I thought that it was impractical. But the feeling that I got when all the important people in my life gathered in one place to celebrate my birthday was extremely overwhelming. That was one experience that I surely wouldn’t forget. I also want to thank my mom for everything. My mom and I collaborated on the theme and everything else.”

FAVORITE MOMENTS | The debutante truly adored her gowns and cocktail dress, and loved all of the gifts that she received. But her favorite moment from her birthday party came from her father. “The one thing that I couldn’t forget was when my dad called and made a speech in front of everyone. My dad couldn’t make it to my debut because of his work overseas. But when he made that speech, I couldn’t help but tear up.”

ONCE A GIRL, NOW A WOMAN | Indsae Hannah is grateful to be living 18 years of her life. Along with this milestone, she also dreams of giving back to her family and becoming a cabin crew someday. “I see myself (10 years from now) as a flight attendant for an international airline, and imagine my family boarding the same plane that I’ll be working in.” She also aspires to have a home for her parents where there's a calm and refreshing setting – a future gift for all of the hard work they’ve put in for her and her brother.

She knows that there will be more responsibilities coming her way. But she is determined to face and to surpass each challenge, as well as treasure each lesson along the way. “I can say that I’m still a girl who needs a lot of improvement in life. It can be quite challenging, but I’m willing to learn for me to able to grow further.” Indsae Hannah now looks forward to enjoying more of her independence while teaching and sharing her values to the younger generation.
